Bowden Group and Zero Waste SA
Bowden plots a route to sustainability
Bowden Group aims for the highest occupational health and safety standards and recently proved its quality management credentials by achieving ISO 9001. Now the family-owned Adelaide printer intends to close the final link in its management systems by gaining one of the highest environmental standards – ISO 14001.
Membership of the Printing Industries Association of Australia (PIAA) is helping Bowden achieve its goals. The PIAA is partnering with Zero Waste SA to deliver an industry-wide Resource Efficiency Assistance Program (REAP) and Bowden is one of the first to benefit.
A REAP-funded sustainability diagnostic and eco-mapping of the company's factory has helped identify where improvements can be made and the means to measure and document improvements. Bowden has also established a special committee of green champions from across the business to help drive change.
