Phoenix Society and Zero Waste SA
Phoenix rises to sustainability challenge
Phoenix Society has overcome some significant obstacles on its road towards sustainable business practice. The not-for-profit organisation embarked on an ambitious greening program in 2007 to cut waste and lower energy and water consumption.
Phoenix Society realised at an early stage that professional support was needed. It became an inaugural member of the Zero Waste SA Resource Efficiency Assistance Program (REAP) which added structure and technical expertise to the program.
This was the start of a green journey that has seen Phoenix progressively lower its environmental footprint. In June 2010, the achievement was acknowledged when Zero Waste SA presented Phoenix with a Certificate of Recognition for its performance and long-standing commitment to REAP.
