Recycling focus as Adelaide Oval goes green
The action at Adelaide Oval is far from over when players walk off the field. As thousands of spectators leave the ground, an army of cleaners are mobilised to begin the all-night task of collecting and sorting the waste.
SACA has joined Zero Waste SA’s Resource Efficiency Assistance Program (REAP) to identify and implement a raft of new initiatives to lower the Oval’s environmental footprint.
A major waste management review conducted as part of REAP in early 2011 identified a series of measures to improve recycling at events and functions, in the Oval offices and during maintenance of the grounds. everyone understands what we’re trying to achieve – we’re confident of realising a recycling rate of more than 80%. That’s a huge improvement in just 12 months.
