Illegal Dumping Prevention Grants
The illegal dumping prevention grants will provide financial assistance for local government and charitable organisations to implement effective measures to prevent illegal dumping of solid waste in targeted areas.
Zero Waste SA developed the program because illegal dumping is a major concern to local and state government as there is a significant burden associated with clean up and disposal costs, enforcement and prevention. Illegal dumping is also a significant cost to charitable organisations and has been adversely affecting their ability to provide much needed services to the community.
Funding available
Zero Waste SA has $80,000 available for 2008-09. Zero Waste SA proposes to allocate the funds across as many worthy projects as possible in order to maximise the program’s benefits. Grants will be allocated in the range of $5000 to $20,000 per applicant for local government and from $2000 to $20,000 per applicant for charitable organisations. Larger amounts will be considered but only in exceptional circumstances. Charitable not for profit organisations that are members of the National Association of Charitable Recycling Organisations (NACRO) are invited to apply through NACRO.
The grants will pay up to 50% of eligible project costs; applicants must be able to demonstrate that they can at least match grant funding including from other sources. For more information read the Guidelines for Applicants and Application form. (Word, 877Kb)
Submission of applications
Applications for this program will close at 5pm Friday 5 September 2008.
