School and Community Grants
The School and Community Grants program targets charities, community groups, service clubs and/or other not for profit organisations involved in the recovery or recycling of re-usable resources and schools (including kindergartens and high schools) that have been involved in the Zero Waste SA Wipe Out Waste (WOW) program.
Zero Waste SA developed the grants program because community-based organisations and schools play an important part in the collection of materials for recycling or re-use and are often small-scale. Not for profit organisations fall into this category as do a number of very small enterprises, especially those who undertake projects that involve avoiding, reducing, reusing and recycling. This grants program was previously known as the Zero Waste SA Social Enterprise Grants Program.
Eligible projects must demonstrate the diversion of materials and goods that would normally be disposed to landfill.
Funding available
Zero Waste SA has allocated $130,000 for the School and Community Grants for 2008-2009. Zero Waste SA proposes to allocate the funds across as many worthy projects as possible in order to maximise the program’s potential community benefits.
Grants will be allocated in the range of $1000 to $20,000. Larger amounts will be considered at the discretion of ZWSA. Matching funds are not required.
