Industry Resource Efficiency Program
The program is supported by the SA Business Sustainability Alliance which includes the Department of Trade and Economic Development/Centre for Innovation, Environment Protection Authority and SA Water. The program will:
- provide a one-stop-shop for business and industry
- help businesses understand, develop and implement cost saving resource efficiency measures
- build capacity to deal with a range of rapidly emerging environmental and social issues.
The program includes 4 components:
Diagnostic (self-assessment)
A management tool to engage senior and other relevant personnel within companies to understand their performance and identify actions for improving resource efficiency and drive continuous improvement. The diagnostic will:
- enable scoping, evaluation, and reporting on an organisation’s current management practices and can be adapted for waste, energy, water and climate change management
- identify priority areas that impede or constrain resource efficiency.
Training modules
Training can provide understanding, build capacity and provide tools, strategies and skills for those personnel within companies who are responsible for addressing the findings from the diagnostic process. Training modules will cover subject areas such as climate change, energy efficiency, environmental responsibility, strategic planning/staff engagement, waste minimisation, lean manufacturing, water efficiency and value chains.
Tailored in-house support
In-house technical support will be provided to enable business personnel and management responsible for initiating actions arising from the diagnostic and training components of the program to bring about the necessary changes in management practices.
Support programs
Industry seminars and workshops, information and promotional packages will be provided for businesses participating in the program.
